Full rebuilds · Engine overhaul
Welder and generator restoration in Grande Prairie
Complete rebuilds for aging machines: every circuit and mechanical part checked, worn components replaced, a deep internal clean and a full engine overhaul, then tested before it goes back.
Chapter 01
Start with the root cause, not the symptom
An older welder or engine-generator that has started to misbehave usually has more than one thing wrong with it. A worn brush, a tired connection and an engine losing compression can stack up until the machine feels like it is simply finished. Replacing one part and sending it back out tends to bring it back to the shop a month later.
Welders and engine-generators also hide their wear well. An output that has slowly drifted, a connection that runs hot under load or an engine that takes longer to start each season can all pass for normal until the day the machine stops. A proper restoration looks for exactly those quiet signs, because they are the ones that decide how long the rebuilt unit will last.
So a restoration here begins with root-cause diagnostics. Our licensed electricians and heavy-duty mechanics check every circuit and mechanical part, not only the one the operator complained about. That is the Expert Electrical Diagnostics half of the job, and it is what tells us whether the machine is a good candidate for a rebuild in the first place.

Worn parts out, a clean machine back, the engine overhauled
Once we know what the machine needs, we replace the worn components rather than patching around them. Then comes the deep internal cleaning. Years of shop dust, oil mist and jobsite grime settle inside a welder, and that build-up holds heat, wears connections and causes the kind of intermittent faults nobody can chase down on the surface.
The mechanical side is a Full Mechanical Rebuild: full mechanical repairs and, where the engine calls for it, a complete engine overhaul. Machines that spend winters working in the Peace Country take a lot of punishment, and an engine that has been properly gone through will carry on working long after a quick fix would have given out.
All of it is done in our Grande Prairie shop, by a crew that is also set up as Factory-Authorized Service for Miller and Lincoln equipment. That matters on a rebuild, because the same people who know how these machines were designed are the ones deciding which parts get replaced and how the unit goes back together. The result is a machine you can plan a season of work around. Nothing is left to chance on the way out the door: the circuits have been checked, the mechanical parts have been gone through and the engine has been brought back to a condition we are willing to stand behind.
Chapter 03
Tested before it goes back, and a smart alternative to buying new
A restored machine is not finished until it has been proven. Before anything leaves the shop we run Thorough Component Testing, with safety and performance checks on the finished unit, so the first time it is put under load is not on your job site.
For many owners, restoration is a smart alternative to buying new. A machine with sound bones and a worn-out supporting cast can be returned to like-new performance, and you keep the equipment your crew already knows how to run. We will tell you straight when a unit is worth rebuilding and when it is not. Keeping a proven machine also keeps your downtime short. There is no new unit to source, no new controls to learn and no gap in the equipment your crew relies on while the work is under way.
